vintage wish list

Often times I tell friends that the hardest part of being in the interior design business is that I fall in love with so many amazing items that it is nearly impossible to decide what to put in my own home.  I often find myself "ooohing" and "aaaahing" over items I wish I could keep for myself even though it is intended for a lucky client.

In the recent months, I have had a new love affair with the brass heavy vintage glamour + lovechild hippiness from the 60's and 70's.  What I used to consider garish and tacky I how adore as charming and eclectic.  As a rule of thumb, I encourage every client (and friend asking for design advice) to incorporate at least one vintage item into their space.  The patina and workmanship of long ago can not be manufactured, or replicated.  Often times, I find that a vintage chair, dresser, side table or even a well work rug is the missing piece that grounds a room and instantaneously integrates a sense of warmth and history.

Behold, my personal wishlist favorite vintage finds:

a set of vintage luggage, to make any road trip a chic experience

a large Sciolari chandelier to bring retro glam into my home

vintage suzani that can either be framed as wall art, or made into a great floor cushion.

i love using ashtrays to hold my jewelry hobnail milk glass ashtray

a pair of vintage blue murano glass lamps
a 100 year old chesterfield sofa

Of course, this list is always being updated based on the wonderful things I find, but for now, these are my tops.  What vintage item do you dream of having in your home?
